Burns UK (1976-78)
After the period of silence, when the Burns name could not be used due to the agreement with Baldwin, the first Burns come-back was made in 1974. In May of 1973, Jim Burns was employed by a Newcastle musical instrument retailer as designer and production controller for a new range of guitars marketed under the tradename Burns UK Ltd.
A range of futuristic guitars, more interesting in terms of design than sound, was launched. The quality was high, but the pick-ups were a bit weak. Jack Golder's Sheergold Company was responsible for the woodworks, and fittings were produced by Re-An and Eddie Cross.
Unfortunately, the guitars were not met with the enthusiasm expected. The company went into bankruptcy in 1977.

One example: UK Flyte /76 The most famous guitar in the 70's series. Was used by, among others, Slade and Marc Bolan. Cool design, but in terms of sound, the Flyte is sadly rather conventional. The Mach One Humbuster pick-ups and Dynamic Tension bridge was introduced with the UK Flyte. The guitar was originally called "Concorde". 1974-77. Also available in a bass version.
